Canadian host Nick Szasz invites you aboard a quintessential rail adventure—the Hisatsu Line in Kyushu, linking Kumamoto to Kagoshima, celebrated as the Treasury of Railway Heritage. This century-old route unfolds with historic stations and bridges, drawing rail enthusiasts from around the world. Nick travels along the Kuma River aboard the Steam Locomotive Hitoyoshi, then transfers to the Isaburo Shinpei, renowned for its climb via a loop and a switchback. The journey continues on Hayato no Kaze, a limited express bound for Sakurajima. Along the way, he samples the local ekiben lunch boxes and soaks in the magnificent natural landscape.
