Triumph des guten Willens
The final segment of the series How to remember? concentrates on the writings of publicist Eike Geisel (1945–1997). Central to the installment are Geisel's critiques of Germany's memory politics and his thesis on the reparation of the Germans. Geisel's texts from the 1990s, including the Neue Wache and the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, are juxtaposed with contemporary photographs of those memorial sites. They reveal a normality that does not truly exist.
