Season 1

Set in the closing decades of the 19th century, Abby Walker—a prosperous, no-nonsense Bostonian—begins a western odyssey with her husband Liam. After crossing paths with Calian, a perceptive Apache tracker, Abby reaches Independence, Texas, where she encounters a mosaic of residents escaping their pasts, pursuing their dreams, and guarding their secrets. Among them is Kate Carver, an idiosyncratic burlesque dancer with perhaps too keen an interest in Abby's origins, and Kai, a soulful Chinese immigrant who runs a combined restaurant and laundry and offers Abby friendship without ulterior motive.
