A poetically structured documentary following Nicholas Gulig, the 2023-24 Wisconsin Poet Laureate, as he returns to his home state after nearly two decades away—including five years teaching in Thailand—before joining UW-Whitewater as a poetry professor and relocating to Fort Atkinson. In a divided political climate and feeling estranged from Wisconsin, Gulig seeks steadiness in the region’s enduring ties to Lorine Niedecker, the celebrated 20th-century Wisconsin poet.
