Widow's Bay, a scenic island enclave forty miles off the New England coast, conceals a shadow beneath its tranquil surface. Mayor Tom Loftis fights to revive his faltering community, confronting a town where there is no Wi‑Fi, cellular reception is patchy, and locals insist the island is cursed. He longs for their respect, but they see him as soft and cowardly — and he is. Yet Loftis remains steadfast in his bid to secure a brighter future for his teenage son and to transform the island into a tourism magnet. Against the odds, he succeeds: tourists begin to arrive. Sadly, the locals’ warnings prove true. After decades of calm, the old stories that once seemed too absurd to be true start resurfacing.
