Widow's Bay, a picturesque island enclave forty miles off the New England coast, harbors a shadow beneath its tranquil surface. Mayor Tom Loftis fights to revive his faltering community, contending with a town where there is no Wi‑Fi, cellular reception is patchy, and locals insist the island is cursed. He longs for their respect, but they see him as soft and cowardly — and he is. Yet Loftis remains resolute in building a brighter future for his teenage son and in transforming the island into a tourism magnet. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists begin to arrive. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that once seemed too absurd to be true start resurfacing.
