INEC Identifies AI Tools Behind Voter Register Issues

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has identified issues with the preliminary voter register due to some staff using AI tools. Lawrence Bayode, INEC’s tech director, noted that certain officers added questionable records, including duplicate entries from Etsako West in Edo State. INEC is cleaning up the register while admitting that the rush to complete registrations in 90 days may have led to verification mistakes.
