Paez Selects Eagles Over Top Programs

Four-star small forward Elijah Paez has committed to join the Boston College men’s basketball program under first-year head coach Luke Murray. The announcement was made via Twitter on October 14, 2026.

Paez, a prospect ranked by ESPN, 247Sports, and On3, chose the Eagles over a field of other competitive programs. His decision eliminates TCU, Washington, DePaul, Saint Louis, UConn, Xavier, and Cal from contention for his services.

The commitment marks Boston College’s second major recruit in the class of 2027, arriving just weeks before the start of the 2026-27 campaign. The Eagles are scheduled to open their season on a Tuesday night against Wagner inside Conte Forum.

Recruiting Factors and Coaching Vision

In an exclusive discussion with Boston College Eagles On SI, Paez outlined the specific elements that influenced his choice of Boston College. He cited Murray’s energy, basketball knowledge, and vision for the program as primary factors.

Paez specifically noted the significance of Murray’s experience building a championship program at UConn. Additionally, he identified the opportunity to make an immediate impact as a freshman as the biggest factor in his decision.

"Blessed to Announce that I have COMMITTED to Boston College," Paez wrote on social media alongside a photo with Murray. "Let’s Get It Coach!!!#AGTG." The post included the handle for the Boston College men's basketball team, @bcmbb.

Player Profile and Development Goals

Paez is a 6-foot-5 small forward from Iowa United Prep, an elite basketball prep school and AAU program located in Des Moines, Iowa. He describes himself as a high-motor, two-way wing who focuses on defense and physical play.

Looking ahead to his collegiate career, Paez stated that his biggest focus for the upcoming season is becoming a more consistent offensive threat. He identified improving his handles and three-point shooting as key areas of development.

Paez expressed excitement about helping bring back excitement and pride to Boston College basketball as he prepares to join the Eagles.
