Summit Concludes With Focus on Economic Blueprint
The Global Youth Powerhouse Summit 2026 concluded on Oct. 7 at the Conrad Hong Kong, following a full-day program held on Oct. 5. Organized by Hong Kong Youth Professional Global Advocacy, the event marked its third edition and coincided with the release of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development (2026–2030) and the latest Policy Address.
The summit brought together more than 600 young professionals, government leaders, and corporate representatives from over 60 countries and regions. The event generated a social media reach exceeding 50 million across its three editions.
Conducted entirely in English, the program focused on artificial intelligence, geopolitics, Hong Kong as an education hub, capital markets, life and health technology, and start-up financing. Government and business leaders, along with corporate representatives and young professionals, examined Hong Kong's strategic opportunities within the new economic landscape outlined by the newly released plans.
Venture Capital and Start-up Connections
A central component of the summit involved financial connections between international investors and local enterprises. Venture funds managing an estimated US$10 billion in assets convened during the event to meet with Hong Kong start-ups.
Speakers and moderators included officials from the HKSAR Government alongside representatives from major corporate entities. Participants included Huawei, the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, Bullish, and Endowus. Consular representatives from up to 20 countries also attended the proceedings.
Government Officials Outline Strategic Direction
HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee delivered a pre-recorded speech addressing the economic outlook for young people in the region. Lee stated that opportunities for young people outweigh difficulties and affirmed that the government will build platforms to help them thrive globally.
Deputy Secretary for Justice Dr. Cheung Kwok-kwan addressed the integration of Hong Kong with the Greater Bay Area. He stressed that accelerating this integration through a new GBA Task Force empowers young professionals to act as "super-connectors" for Mainland enterprises going global.
