San Antonio television station KENS 5 has confirmed that David Alex Lynch will transition from his role as an on-air producer to become a full-time reporter. The change marks the end of nearly eight years for Lynch in behind-the-scenes production roles at the news organization.

In a social media post released Friday, June 29, 2026, Lynch announced he is switching from managing CMS systems and camera gear to reporting duties at KENS 5. The announcement was shared on Instagram by Lynch himself.

According to the post, the last few months provided him with experience in front of a camera. Lynch stated that he found fulfillment while diving deeper into local politics and covering decisions affecting San Antonio's present and future.

Lynch expressed eagerness to bring his production experience into this new chapter of storytelling in front of the camera. He noted that moving from managing CMS systems for the camera gear represents a shift toward reporting responsibilities at @kens5, as he wrote on Instagram.
