Patnaik’s Warning to Hinjili Rebels: 'I Know Everything'

Bhubaneswar, October 1, 2026: In a stern address to party leaders and workers from his Hinjili constituency, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik issued a sharp warning against internal dissent. Speaking at a meeting held at his residence, Naveen Niwas, on October 1, 2026, Patnaik made it clear that the party leadership is closely monitoring those accused of creating trouble within the ranks.

Patnaik stated that he knows who is involved in creating trouble and promised that action would be taken at the right time. The BJD President and former Odisha Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over disruptive activities, specifically targeting party rebels in his stronghold of Hinjili and Sheragada in the Ganjam district.

According to reports from Ommcom News, Patnaik warned leaders from his home constituency that those indulging in anti-party activities and causing mischief are under watch. He emphasized his awareness of the situation, stating, "I know everything." This uncompromising warning was directed at individuals creating chaos and indiscipline within his home turf, as reported by Pragativadi.

Delegation’s Grievances: Development Neglect and Administrative Bias

The meeting at Naveen Niwas was convened to address pressing local issues. Leaders and workers of the BJD from Hinjili Municipality met Patnaik to raise concerns regarding development, health, and law and order, as noted by Kalinga TV.

During the session, the Hinjili BJD delegation alleged the BJP government's negligence in development works. They further claimed there was a partisan approach in administration and policing within their constituency. These allegations highlight the growing friction between the opposition party at the state level and the ruling central government’s local implementation.

The delegation sought Patnaik's intervention for fair governance and timely redressal of public grievances, according to Enews Insight. In response, Patnaik assured support and said he would take up the issues with the district administration. He reiterated his commitment to the overall development of the Hinjili constituency, promising to address the specific concerns raised by the local representatives.

Distance Between Leadership and Constituency

The gathering also shed light on the logistical challenges faced by local party workers in maintaining contact with the party supremo. Sources reported that Naveen Patnaik has not visited Hinjili in recent months. This lack of physical presence has prompted party leaders and elected representatives from the constituency to travel nearly 200 kilometres to Bhubaneswar to raise local issues directly.

The need for such long-distance travel underscores the urgency with which local leaders view the development and administrative concerns plaguing Hinjili. By bringing these matters to Naveen Niwas, the delegation ensured that Patnaik was fully briefed on the ground realities, allowing him to issue both political warnings to internal dissenters and assurances of support for external grievances.

As the BJD navigates its role as the primary opposition in Odisha, the clarity of its message to internal rebels and its responsiveness to local development needs remain critical. Patnaik’s dual approach—warning those causing indiscipline while promising action on public grievances—reflects the party's strategy to maintain unity at home while challenging the government’s record abroad.
