Eastern Washington Takes Early Lead
The Oregon State women's soccer team fell to Eastern Washington, 2-1, in their final non-conference game before the start of Pac-12 play. The loss brings the Beavers' record to 1-7-2.
Eastern Washington scored first in the ninth minute. Noelle Raczykowski delivered a corner kick that found Addison Stendara. Stendara's shot was blocked, but Allison Bennett picked up the rebound and scored to put the Eagles ahead 1-0.
Eastern Washington added their second goal shortly after. In the sixteenth minute, Mira Scarsella passed the ball to Maya Bossenbrook. Bossenbrook raced past an Oregon State defender before firing a shot into the net.
Oregon State Responds Before Halftime
Oregon State mounted an offensive response in the first half. The Beavers applied early pressure with shots from Lea Gentry and Evee Stoddard.
In the 29th minute, Oregon State found the back of the net. Adele Schwab delivered a header to Mary Hoffman, who scored to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was initially called off for an offside call but was awarded after a review confirmed it was valid.
Second Half Dominance by Eastern Washington
The momentum shifted significantly in the second half as Eastern Washington controlled possession and created numerous scoring opportunities. The Eagles outshot Oregon State 13 to 3 during the period, putting constant pressure on the Beaver defense.
Despite the defensive onslaught, Oregon State goalkeeper Libby Brooker remained resilient. Brooker faced six shots in the second half and made four crucial saves to keep the scoreline from widening further.
Oregon State Offense Struggles to Find Rhythm
While Eastern Washington dominated the latter stages of the game, Oregon State’s offense struggled to generate consistent chances. Emily Brandt led the Beavers with three shots, while Sophia Zboyan and Lea Gentry each took two attempts on goal.
Pac-12 Play Begins Against Washington State
The loss marks the end of Oregon State’s non-conference schedule as they prepare for conference play. The Beavers will travel to Pullman to face Washington State at 6 PM Pacific on Thursday, October 1st, to begin their Pac-12 campaign.
