KIKWIT, DRC — Professor De Gaule Mayungu, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law at an unspecified institution in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), made statements regarding the nation's mineral resources during the launch of his new book.

According to Professor Mayungu, the Democratic Republic of the Congo holds 54 out of the world's total count of strategic minerals. This figure represents a significant portion of global reserves identified by the scholar at the event.

The professor noted that these mineral resources constitute one of the country's greatest strengths. However, he also characterized this wealth as a major driver of prolonged conflict in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Professor Mayungu presented these observations to an audience at the book launch event held in KIKWIT. The scholar did not provide specific details regarding which institutions or organizations were present, nor did he elaborate on the nature of the new book beyond its presentation context.
