MLBx Mumbai Brings Cricket Stars to Baseball Arena
Six Indian cricketers are set to participate in MLBx: Mumbai, a 3-on-3 baseball event scheduled for October 24 at the Mumbai Football Arena within the Andheri Sports Complex. The event marks Major League Baseball’s first MLBx initiative in India, featuring a format where teams pair an MLB legend with an Indian cricketer and a star from the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL).
The participating Indian athletes include Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Jitesh Sharma, Kashvee Gautam, Radha Yadav, and Deepak Chahar. They will compete against former MLB players and softball professionals in a format designed to showcase athletic versatility across sports.
Jeremiah Yolkut, MLB’s Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Events, stated that Mumbai’s passion for sport and entertainment made it the appropriate setting for the event.
Team Lineups and Player Backgrounds
The competition features four distinct teams, each combining a former Major League Baseball player with an Indian cricketer and an AUSL athlete.
The New York Yankees team consists of Nick Swisher, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rachel Garcia. Swisher won the 2009 World Series with the Yankees and was an All-Star in 2010. Garcia is a two-time NFCA National Player of the Year, an Olympic silver medallist, and the first overall pick in the inaugural AUSL Draft.
The Los Angeles Dodgers team includes Adrián González, Jitesh Sharma, and Jordan Woolery. González is a five-time MLB All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner. Woolery was named the 2026 Softball America and Big Ten Player of the Year.
The Chicago Cubs team is composed of Jake Arrieta, Shardul Thakur, and Radha Yadav. Arrieta won the 2015 National League Cy Young Award and helped the Chicago Cubs win the 2016 World Series.
The Boston Red Sox team features Jonny Gomes, Kashvee Gautam, and Deepak Chahar. Gomes played 13 MLB seasons and was part of Boston’s 2013 World Series-winning team.
