Trump Holds Rally in Mobile, Promises Economic Incentives

President Donald Trump attended a rally in Mobile, Alabama, on Friday ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for Nov. 3. During the event, Trump told the crowd to vote for Republicans and stated, "I love Alabama." He also announced plans to return to the state the following Saturday for the Georgia-Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa.

At the rally, Trump made specific economic promises tied to the upcoming election. He stated that if Republicans retain control of Congress, every American would receive a $5,000 check. "If the Republicans win, you will each have $5,000 in your pocket and economic success for our country like we have never seen before," Trump said.

Conversely, Trump warned that a Democratic victory would result in an economic depression "the likes of 1929." This rhetoric comes amid new polling data indicating low approval for his economic management; a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that just 26% of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s handling of the economy overall, marking a new low.

Strategic Shifts and Impeachment Debates

The campaign trail activity occurs as Democratic leadership considers its legislative strategy should they win the House majority. Rep. Jim Clyburn suggested that Democrats should not focus on impeaching Trump, arguing it would tie them up for months and depend on an uncertain Senate conviction. Instead, he suggested looking at Defense Secretary Hegseth and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

San Antonio Rally and Texas Political Landscape

Trump is scheduled to visit San Antonio next week for a rally at Freeman Coliseum featuring Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Republican congressional candidate Carlos De La Cruz. This event will be Trump’s third trip to Texas in less than a month, following visits to Denton and other locations as part of an effort to mobilize Republican voters in key states and House districts.

The political environment in Texas remains tight. Polling shows Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico with a narrow lead over Paxton. Additionally, Trump was 9 points underwater in Texas in a Texas Politics Project poll fielded in August, with just 42% of voters giving him a favorable rating.

Financial stakes are high for the Texas Senate seat, which Democrats have not won since 1988. Nearly $175 million in outside ad spending has been attracted to preserve GOP control of the seat.
