Riley Asserts Commitment Following Playoff Elimination
\nLincoln Riley insisted Tuesday that he remains the correct leader for Southern California after a defeat at Wisconsin last Saturday effectively ended the Trojans' College Football Playoff aspirations.
\nThe loss dropped USC's record to 6-2 on the season. Riley, who is in his fifth year in Los Angeles with an overall record of 41-20, addressed reporters after practice to defend his position and tenure at the university.
\n\"Listen, if I didn't want to be at this place, I wouldn't have come here in the first place,\" Riley said. \"I've had plenty of opportunities to leave. This is where I want to be. This is the right place for me. I'm the right person to be here. And that's as honest and transparent as I can be with you guys.\"
\nRiley, 43, rejected suggestions that he might be a better fit at another program. He emphasized the sacrifices made to join USC and stated his belief in the institution has not changed.
\n\"I love it here,\" Riley said. \"There's not many people in college football history that gave up what I gave up to come here. I don't care if it's 15 years down the line, that never should be taken lightly. It's certainly not taken lightly by me. I came here because I believe in this place and none of that has changed whatsoever.\"

\nDespite the current record, USC has not won a conference title under Riley's leadership. The program lost to Utah in the 2022 Pac-12 championship game and finished in a tie for fourth place in the Big Ten last season.
\nRiley previously compiled a 55-10 record at Oklahoma from 2017 through 2021 before moving to Los Angeles. He has yet to lead USC to a College Football Playoff appearance during his tenure.
\n\nRemaining Schedule
\nUSC continues its Big Ten play with a home game against Ohio State. The Trojans will visit Indiana on Nov. 14, host Maryland on Nov. 21, and close the regular season with a matchup against UCLA on Nov. 28.
\nRiley stated that his role involves maintaining stability regardless of external reactions to the team's performance.
\n\"My job is to stay steady,\" Riley said, noting the
