Applications Now Available for November Election
Absentee ballot applications for the Nov. 3, 2026, election are now available from the Vernon Town Clerk, according to the town. Applications can be obtained directly from the Town Clerk's Office or online through the Connecticut Secretary of the State's Office.
The Town Clerk and secretary of the state are the only sources for these applications. The Town Clerk's Office holds responsibility for issuing absentee ballots to residents who submit them.
Ballots will be available from the Town Clerk beginning Oct. 5. Residents who need an application can call the Vernon Town Clerk at 860-870-3662 and request that one be mailed to them.
Applications are available at the Town Clerk's Office on the first floor of Town Hall, located at 14 Park Place. The office operates from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Changes in State Law and Voting Options
Connecticut law now allows registered voters to cast ballots by absentee ballot without providing a specific excuse. Previously, voters generally had to meet certain criteria to qualify, such as having a physical disability, being out of state on Election Day, or serving in the armed forces.
The Vernon Registrars of Voters do not process absentee ballot applications or issue absentee ballots, the town said.
Early voting in Vernon will be available at the Registrar of Voters office, located at 375 Hartford Turnpike. The schedule for early voting is as follows:
- Oct. 19-26: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 27: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Oct. 28: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 29: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Oct. 30 and 31: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Nov. 1: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Election Day voting will take place at voters' regular polling locations.
