In 2012, Tan Xiao Bei, an art student who had been studying for two years, met Hu Miao Miao, who was also a "fifth high school student". Despite their contrasting temperaments, they leaned on one another under the crushing pressure of exams and resolved to tread to the ends of the earth together. Having survived that "catastrophic catastrophe," they grew estranged in the wake of that day. Years later, they crossed paths again, yet they were no longer the same people they once were.
