33 ⅓ Revolutions per Monkee
33 1⁄3 Revolutions per Monkee is a 1969 NBC television special starring the Monkees, produced by Jack Good, which aired on April 14. The program features a lineup of guests including Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Little Richard, the Clara Ward Singers, the Buddy Miles Express, Paul Arnold and the Moon Express, and We Three. While marketed as musical guests, Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger (and their backing ensemble The Trinity) take on a prominent role, and some view the program as centering more on the guest stars, particularly Auger and Driscoll, than on the Monkees themselves. This special is notable for being the Monkees' final performance as a quartet until 1986, since Peter Tork departed from the group at the end of the production. The title is a playful nod to '33 1⁄3 revolutions per minute.'
