A Different World
A Different World originated as a spin-off of The Cosby Show, initially centering on Denise Huxtable and the college-life experiences of students at Hillman College, a fictional coeducational historically Black college in Virginia. After Bonet's departure in the first season, the series' focus shifted toward Southern belle Whitley Gilbert and math whiz Dwayne Wayne. Throughout its run, the show frequently depicted members of the major historically Black fraternities and sororities.
