A Dog Year
Jon Katz teeters on the brink of burnout, a writer beset by a stubborn block. His wife has left for her sister's because he is emotionally distant, and he rarely answers his phone. A kennel sends him a border collie that is undisciplined due to abuse. Despite a string of mishaps, Jon resolves to persevere with the dog, and he rents a dilapidated farmhouse to give the dog room to run. A local handyman points Jon toward a woman who might be able to help him train the dog. Reluctantly, Jon agrees to give her a try. Is the problem the dog, or the owner?
