A Story on the Shore

KORE-EDA Hirokazu, the filmmaker who won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, has been a friend of mine for 20 years. In one summer, my camera followed him through three seaside towns—Cannes, Okinawa, and Chigasaki. His film was embraced by many, and the creation for the next story quietly begins with the sound of a soft sea breeze.
