Akiko's Piano: Chords Played by the Surviving Piano
In 1940, Kawamoto Akiko resides in Hiroshima with her father Genkichi, her mother Shizuko, and her two younger brothers. Akiko cherishes playing her favourite piano. As the war deepens, she assists with the war effort. On the morning of August 6, 1945, she defies her father and travels to the centre of town to work. Seventy-five years later in Hiroshima, her favourite piano endures, restored and playable after surviving the atomic bombing.
