Adele August, a single mother, struggles with money and, worse, with making sound decisions, setting a tense tone at home. Her straight-laced daughter, Ann, is a successful high school student with Ivy League aspirations. When Adele abruptly decides to relocate them from the Midwest to Beverly Hills, California, to chase her Hollywood dreams, Ann confronts her mother’s irresponsible and impulsive choices, igniting a clash between duty and ambition.
