Autumn Milk
With the death of her mother, eight-year-old Anna ends her childhood as she assumes responsibility for a nine-member family. A life of deprivation extends into marriage when Anna becomes a wife: her husband Albert is a soldier in the Second World War, and the pregnant Anna must toil on the farm and care for sick relatives. Lonely and subjected to the harassment of a tyrannical mother-in-law, she waits for Albert, with no certainty that he will return.
