Ellie Harrison, also known as Elaine, has just relocated from Minnesota to Annapolis, Maryland, while her parents embark on a yearlong sabbatical to pursue their medieval studies in nearby Washington, D.C. Her new school, Avalon High, initially appears to be a quintessential campus, populated by archetypes like Lance the jock, Jennifer the cheerleader, Marco the bad boy, and Will, the senior class president, quarterback, and all‑around good guy. Yet not everyone at Avalon High fits their labels, and Ellie herself isn’t exempt from the deception.
