Black Beauty

Based on Anna Sewell's novel, this tale unfolds in rural England during the 1880s as widowed Squire Wendon raises his young daughter Anne. Her father forbids her from being present when their mare, 'Duchess,' foals. Anne secretly goes to the stable, is discovered, and he forbids her ever to ride Duchess again. Nevertheless, on her birthday he presents Anne with Duchess's colt, whom she names 'Black Beauty.'
