Black Coffee, a 1931 British detective film directed by Leslie S. Hiscott, adapts Agatha Christie’s 1930 stage play Black Coffee, featuring her famed private detective Hercule Poirot. The cast is led by Austin Trevor as Poirot with Richard Cooper portraying his companion Captain Hastings. During a house party, a famous but hated scientist, Sir Amory, is murdered and some of his valuable papers go missing. Poirot swiftly determines the manner of death and the motive, then narrows the field to the most plausible culprit.
