Despite a modest, impoverished upbringing, Seo Dong Hee carries a bright, resilient outlook as she pursues her dream of becoming a designer with steady, determined effort. She resolves to raise her nephew as a single mother, taking on full responsibility for his future. Along the way, she becomes involved with Kang Cha Yeol. Kang Cha Yeol is the heir to a major conglomerate run by his father, who wants him to join the family business. Kang Cha Yeol resists this path and longs to return to the United States, yet he realizes he cannot advance without his father's financial backing. His father ultimately commands him to work for one year at the company.
