At first, it seems like just another urban legend—a vengeful supernatural being from the afterlife that savagely targets anyone who cheats on their partner in the small college town of Silvercreek, Pennsylvania. Yet the town’s alarmingly high suicide rate drives locals and students to suspect that nothing is as innocent as it appears. When Maeve, a female college student, sleeps with Charlie, the married man of the host family she is staying with, the pair sense the deadly curse closing in on them. Unable to persuade others, Maeve and Charlie seek help from a local history student to uncover answers and devise a defense. The tension escalates as the savage entity murders several people—one by one, at a breakneck pace. In the end, Maeve, Charlie, and the remaining survivors band together to defeat the monster once and for all.
