Dance Film

This short animated film playfully upends the history of avant-garde dance cinema by shifting the focus from the dancer to the spectator, positioning the dancer herself—the filmmaker Kelly—as the observer at the center of the frame. It explores, in part, what it means to watch others watching and to become conscious of our own role as spectators. In another vein, it presents a vivid, colorful portrait of a very happy baby watching with delight as her mother dances.
