Daphne
Set in the years bridging the Rebecca trial and the creation of Du Maurier's short story The Birds, the narrative traces her relationship with husband Frederick 'Boy' Browning and her largely unreciprocated infatuations with Ellen Doubleday, wife of an American publishing magnate, and with the actress Gertrude Lawrence.
