Dickens

Dickens is a 2002 three-part docudrama presented by Peter Ackroyd, based on Ackroyd's biography of Dickens. It adopts an unconventional approach in which actors portray a range of figures from Dickens's life, including Dickens himself, and are interviewed as if appearing in a contemporary documentary. Their words are drawn from actual letters and journals of the individuals involved, and they illuminate the hardships and triumphs of Dickens's life, and show how these experiences found their way into his works.
