Dimitrie Cantemir

This historical drama traces the life of Dmitry Cantemir and the Moldavian people from November 1710 to July 1711, a volatile period as Turkish forces mobilize for war with Russia. The Sultan appoints Cantemir to the throne of Moldavia. In secret, Cantemir forges ties with Peter I and seals a military-political agreement with him, by which Russia assumes Moldavia under its protectorate, pledging to expel the Turks and restore the former borders of the Moldavian state.
