Season 2
The opening 20 episodes form the Nirvana arc (ニルヴァーナ, Niruvāna), adapting Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail from volume 16 through the midpoint of volume 20. This arc centers on Fairy Tail forming alliances with other guilds to defeat the dark guild Oración Seis, aided by Wendy Marvell, a Dragon Slayer, and a reformed Jellal Fernandez. The following four episodes comprise the self-contained Daphne arc, where Gray Fullbuster appears to betray the guild and aids Daphne, a disturbed wizard, in capturing Natsu to power an artificial dragon. The final 24 episodes adapt the remainder of the manga's volume 20 into the early portion of volume 24, creating the Edolas arc, in which the guild is transported to the parallel universe Edolas to be used by the world ruler Faust to restore magic to his kingdom, and they strive to return home with help from Faust's son Mystogan and Happy's race of winged cats, the Exceed.
