Season 5
Two arcs anchor the season. The first 27 episodes continue the Grand Magic Games arc, drawing from the early part of Volume 36 through the middle of Volume 40 of Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima. The focus remains on Natsu and the others who have slept seven years on Tenrou Island; they persevere in the Grand Magic Games, the annual contest to determine the strongest guild in the Kingdom of Fiore. Yet they uncover a conspiracy involving Eclipse, a time machine, and the looming destruction of the kingdom. The subsequent 24 episodes present an original narrative titled Eclipse Celestial Spirits arc, in which the twelve celestial spirits of the Zodiac rebel against their owners Lucy and Yukino after being transformed by Eclipse's black magic.
