A Holy Grail War unfolds in the town of Fuyuki, waged by Mages and their summoned Heroic Spirits. Yet a single mage exploits the turmoil of World War II to seize the Grail. Decades later, the Yggdmillennia clan adopts the Grail as its emblem and secedes from the Mage's Association. Enraged, the Association dispatches forces to quell them, but they are defeated. With the Grail system redefined, a war of unprecedented scale erupts.
