Follow My Voice: With the Music of Hedwig
A collaborative tribute album conceived by a visionary record producer alongside the creators of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and leading indie artists to benefit the Hetrick-Martin Institute, home to the Harvey Milk School—the nation's first accredited high school for LGBTQ youth. Follow My Voice: With the Music of Hedwig traces the brave, living stories of four students at this controversial school while documenting the yearlong gestation of Wig in a Box, the album whose songs resonate with the teens' struggles and aspirations. Filmed through a dynamic blend of verité footage, intimate student video diaries, and rare in-studio moments of artists laying down tracks, Follow My Voice presents a potent, poignant portrait of the unlikely crossover of youth, gender identity, and rock. Featuring studio sessions from Yoko Ono, Rufus Wainwright, The Bens, The Breeders, Yo La Tengo, John Cameron Mitchell, They Might Be Giants, and more.
