Six students — Vod Nordstrom, Oregon Shawcross, Josie Jones, Kingsley Owen, JP Pembersley, and Howard McGregor — enter Manchester Medlock University as freshmen, Howard being the sole second-year among them. After applying late for accommodation, they take up residence in a shared, off-campus house in Whalley Range, choosing this option over university halls.
