High school sweethearts John and Kathy discover Kathy is pregnant, prompting them to marry and move to Cambridge so John can pursue a Harvard scholarship. Yet confronted with the stark realities of their situation, Kathy leaves John behind. He rents a room from Dorothy, a psychic who encourages him as he strives to balance school and fatherhood.
