GARO
Under Makai Law, any human tainted by a Horror's blood must be killed, or else endure a painful death within 100 days. Kaoru, a young girl, finds herself at the center of a brutal clash between a Horror and a Makai Knight. Kouga Saejima—the Golden Knight Garo—defies this decree and vows to uncover a path to purify Kaoru before her time runs out.

Haunted by a childhood vision sparked by a picture book titled The Black Flame and The Golden Wind, Kaoru Mitsuki wakes set for her debut as an artist. In parallel, Kouga Saezima, freshly completed with training, receives a directive from his loyal butler Gonza to visit the art gallery where Kaoru is. Seeing the girl appears unpossessed, he trails her to the gallery's dealer, Taisuke Taniyama, offering to premiere one of Kaoru's pieces early and asking that she deliver the work to his manor. Once alone, Kouga tries to kill Taniyama, who escapes and triggers a full building lockdown. After disabling Taniyama's traps and drawing Kaoru into the crossfire, Kouga battles Taniyama until Anglay, a demon-possessed Horror, erupts from his host and uses another painting to assume a new form. Urging Kaoru to run, Kouga transforms into the golden knight from her dreams. Though Garo defeats the Horror, some of its blood splashes onto Kaoru's face and arm. Bound to kill her for bearing Horror-blood, he instead spares her life to use as bait for attracting further Horrors. When she comes to, he apologizes for ruining her big break and walks away with her painting.
