A mysterious pair of VR glasses arrives for 100 youths, plunging them into the realm of GARO VERSUS ROAD. Their sole objective is to summon a mysterious suit of golden armor and claim the title of Garo. The twist: only one participant can survive.

Sona Soraton (Koya Matsudai), a university student, and his best friend Shouri Hoshiai (Naoya Shimizu), a gamer, lead an ordinary life. One day they receive a rumoured VR game, and when they activate the VR glasses, the area is transformed into a colossal game field where 100 players have gathered. The guide, Shukai (Momotsuki Nashiko), appears to explain the premise. The players are told to fight for the Garo armour that glimmers above their heads, and if they win, they can have whatever they want.
