Gentleman Joe Palooka
In the second film of Monogram's Joe Palooka series, Joe is used by two state senators who scheme to seize oil-rich lands through a publicity campaign designed to transfer the land to the state, ostensibly for a park. When he discovers he has been duped, he becomes disillusioned and withdraws from the prizefighting profession. Yet his manager, sparring partners, and fiancée manage to expose the land-grab scheme, clear Joe's name, and discredit the crooked politicians.
