Grylu Sker unfolds as the saga of a vanished explorer set within a rich tapestry of Icelandic folklore, brought to life by Tab Murphy (Gorillas in the Mist, The Haunted Swordsman) and Icelandic author Sjón (co-writer of The Northman). The narrative follows an explorer’s struggle for survival on a stark, merciless island, while offering a reimagined take on the legendary Icelandic witch Gryla. The production will deploy 36-inch tall bunraku puppets, stop-motion animation, traditional in-camera effects, and time-honored smoke-and-mirrors tricks to conjure its mythic atmosphere.
