Hakuoki

Yukimura Chizuru, the daughter of a physician working in Edo, watches as her father leaves Edo to offer volunteer medical care and relocates to Kyoto, leaving her behind. As time passes, she grows anxious about losing contact with him and sets out for Kyoto to find him. Along her journey, she is assaulted by criminals and witnesses a confrontation between an oni and the Shinsengumi. The Shinsengumi apprehend and rescue her, and upon learning that she is the daughter of the doctor they themselves are seeking, they debate how to proceed. Ultimately, they pledge to become Chizuru's protectors and assist her in locating her father. What follows is a string of events during her stay with the Shinsengumi, as they uncover enigmatic secrets and square off against a Bakumatsu faction.
