Ayano Hanesaki, a first-year pupil at Kanagawa Prefectural Kitakomachi High School, harbors a badminton talent that outstrips her peers yet she abstains from playing. She crosses paths with Nagisa Aragaki, a third-year student who trains ceaselessly, day and night, with the aim of becoming Japan's number one. Guided by coach Tachibana Kentarou, encouraged by her club mates, and galvanized by a roster of rivals, the pair dive into their youth and a beloved sport, as thrilling as a shuttlecock blazing through the air at top speed.
