Eighteen aspiring chefs enter the blistering arena as Gordon Ramsay opens the doors to a new season of HELL'S KITCHEN, challenging them to prove skill, passion, and dedication in pursuit of the grand prize: a Head Chef position at BLT Steak in New York City. In the season's inaugural team challenge, Ramsay asks the contestants to prepare their signature dish and splits them into two teams: men versus women. The winning team savor the sweet life with a celebratory dinner at L.A. Market, dining alongside Season Eight winner Nona Sivley, while the losing team is left to scrub down the kitchen in preparation for their first dinner service. Moments before the grand reopening of HELL'S KITCHEN, a sobering announcement sets the tone as tempers flare and the teams struggle to communicate, causing slow service that drives diners to walk out before their entrees are served.
