London-based widower Purshotam Agarwal raises his granddaughter Namrata after the death of his son and his Caucasian daughter-in-law. As she comes of age, he pressures her to wed the son of Ranveer from Tikamgarh. She travels to India and, to his dismay, refuses the arranged match and returns with a wealthy man named Romi, whom she claims is her fiancé. Purshotam remains unaware that Romi is not who he claims to be, and Namrata has no intention of marrying him either.
