House of Sand and Fog
Behrani, an Iranian immigrant, purchases a California bungalow with the intent to repair it, flip it, and generate enough money to send his son to college. Yet the house is the legally owned property of Kathy, a former drug addict. After losing the house in an unfair dispute with the county, she is left with nowhere to go. Wanting her house back, she hires a lawyer and befriends a police officer. Neither Kathy nor Behrani has broken the law, so they find themselves involved in a difficult moral dilemma.
