In a dimly lit orphanage, death casts a constant shadow over its residents—girls torn from families, trained as instruments of war, conditioned to kill without remorse. All except Sheena, who longs for the fighting to end. On the night of her roommate's death, she encounters a strange girl, blood-streaked and smiling amid the upheaval. The next day the girl returns as a new pupil in Sheena's class, introducing herself as Mimi.
