Movie Background

Illusive Tracks

Christmas 1945 on a Stockholm‑to‑Berlin train gathers a motley cross‑section of travelers for a postwar voyage: Gunnar, the author who longs to leave his old life behind and contribute in Berlin; Henry, a physician who plans to marry Marie while also keeping his current wife Karin, whom he intends to kill during the journey; Pompe and Sixten, a middle‑aged gay couple; a soldier bound for Uppsala who has boarded the wrong train; the cheerful yet cynical elderly Margaret; a man dressed as an elf; and a surly conductor. Also aboard are Baltic refugees accompanied by two nuns who are to be sent to Germany.
